5 Scariest Horror Movie Villains
Fear is part of the human condition; we all feel it. That said, what scares each individual differs through a great range of things. But there is one thing we can all agree on: murdering madmen, deranged and cruel, scare the tar out of all of us! Based on your input, we’ve put together a list of the top 5 scariest horror movie villains (hint: they’re all in the slasher category!):
5. Chucky (Child’s Play franchise): A highly sought-after doll possessed by the malevolent spirit of a serial killer… What can’t he do?! Chucky is small and has the power of the supernatural on his side. There’s no place to hide from this guy.
4. Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th franchise): A big tall brooding man who will stop at nothing to slaughter with a machete?! Not anyone we’d like to encounter in the day or night anytime soon. Jason never dies and he can overpower any and all. Never go to camp alone.
3. Michael Myers (Halloween franchise, minus Halloween 3): Michael could possibly create the greatest threat on this list. But due to his specific infatuation with one person, we think he’s not quite as scary as some on this list (unless, of course, you happen to be his sister). You can literally behead this guy and he won’t die! Not to mention he can walk faster than you can move. Can’t run, so you better learn how to hide!
2. Leatherface (Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise): A killer with raw power and mental instability, Leatherface is a staple. He’s crazy and wielding a chainsaw, which makes him completely unpredictable and terrifying. Not to mention he’s based on an actual American serial killer named Ed Gein. Based in reality may be too much for us to handle in a dark room at midnight, which is why Leaatherface has made it to our 2nd spot.
1. Freddy Kreuger (A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise): Not only was he a child killer during life, in death Freddy can kill you through a dream. He doesn’t even need to be physically present in order to get you! His murderous nature and cunning brain make him the most intellectual killer which is by far the most terrifying.
Honorable mention: Pinhead (Hellraiser franchise), Pennywise the Clown (IT), Hannibal Lecter (The Silence of the Lambs)
